Five little monkeys jumping on the bed, what would happen if they all jumped off and broke their heads?
Indeed it would be a true tragedy. Jumping on a bed is never a good idea nor is jumping off of one.
There are many things that can happen when you let your little ones jump on the bed. It would be very sad to have to send your children off to the hospital.
When they jump on the bed they could sprain an ankle. They could also run into someone else that is also jumping on the bed and break a bone or two.
Those who jump on the bed risk jumping off of it. When this happens they risk jumping on a variety of things.
Furniture near by could cause serious damage to their bones. Some furniture is harder than others and each could cause a special type of injury.
An adjacent wooden Chester drawer for example could break some bones. A near by recliner could have things on the back or sides of it that could cut you.
A loose piece of paper on the floor could cause a child to slip and fall on their head. A concussion can be very serious.
In some cases you may have to call the doctor, and of course you know what he will say. Jumping on the bed is also a bad habit for your children to learn.
They will begin to think that the bed is a place to play rather than a place to sleep. The truth of the matter is that we spend at least one third of our entire life on it.
If children are busy jumping on it, they could assume that it is okay to stay up and have bad sleeping habits. Another thing that could happen is that they learn that it is okay to destroy furniture.
Teaching them not to jump will also teach them that furniture costs money and that they should respect it accordingly. If you were to let them jump, you would find that the life expectancy of your mattress will be greatly reduced.
Depending on the type of material that you use depends on how much damage will be done. Spring mattresses will be less comfortable after just a couple of years.
Mattresses using materials such as memory foams will last even less. Certain gel mattresses will even show some wear over time.
Jumping on the bed right before bed time will make it harder for children to sleep. They will unfortunately have less of a good nights rest because they will not enter in as deep of an R E M sleep.
If you are not aware, the deeper R E M sleep the more rested and healthy one will feel. The choice is ultimately yours, some believe in the saying, spare the rod, spare the children, what you choose depends on your view on discipline.
